Thirty eight drivers were cited, four were given verbal warnings and one was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence during a three-hour speed enforcement operation Saturday on U.S. Highway 101 at Woodside Road in Redwood City, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The enforcement operation took place from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in an area where there have been numerous complaints about speeding, the CHP said. Patrol cars lined up on the Woodside onramp to southbound 101 during the operation.
Some drivers were caught traveling at speeds of more than 90 mph, with at least one clocking at 100 mph.
The CHP said it will be out again next weekend, possibly I-280, to tackle another location where traffic complaints are high.
