Bay Cities FC hosted Space United FC at Sequoia High School in one last showdown for the NISA Independent Cup.
Some words to describe this match are passionate, fiery, and overall exciting to watch. In the first half, it was evident both teams came to win. Fouls being called left and right with multiple chances on goal.
In the 29th minute, BCFC allowed a foul in the box which converted into a penalty kick and goal for Space United FC half way into the first half. In the 34th minute, Space United fouls Captain Jonathan Partida resulting in a yellow card and free kick for BCFC. Miguel Guerrero is on the free kick and David Kinnear, BCFC center back, gets his head on it to put the game at 1-1 in the 35th minute.
BCFC and Space United would go into half-time at 1-1. Coming into the second half, you could feel the energy coming from the stands at Sequoia High School. Both teams came out with high intensity. It was clear that players Josiah Romero and Rei Dorwart were hungry to put a goal in with multiple looks early on.
In the 79th minute, Captain John Partida sniffs out a coming mistake from Space United FC right in front of the box. He was able to retrieve the ball and send in the perfect pass splitting two defenders to set up Josiah Romero. Romero, takes one touch with only the Space United keeper in front of him and drive the second goal home for BCFC.
In the 85th minute, Space United FC found themselves getting a cross in and were able to find the equalizing goal with a header. Both teams went out in the last few minutes of the game looking for a winner. Final score was 2-2.
