Redwood City Parks, Recreation & Community Services has announced partial closures of the Magical Bridge Playground Mon. & Tues., Sept. 13-14 and Sat. through Mon., Sept. 18-27, as well as a full closure Wed. through Fri., Sept. 15-17 as the largest mosaic in Redwood City is installed.
The Magical Bridge Mosaic Project, which will feature 100,000 tiles, brought together volunteers, artists, and donors, many of whom helped preassemble its mosaic scenes, per the City. It will cover the long tunnel walls and the area under the curved tunnel ceiling during the two week installation. While the playground will remain open throughout most of the installation, the tunnel area will be closed to the public while the mosaic is installed.
“Unfortunately, until we can find a safe solution to access the Innovation and Swing and Sway Zones, those areas will be closed,” stated City officials.
City officials are encouraging community members to stop in to see the art team and tile contractor install the mosaic—while also respecting their work area.
The Magical Bridge Playground is located at 939 Valota Rd. in Redwood City. Learn more about the playground here.
