Redwood City recently announced that the Zoppé Italian Family Circus is coming back to the City’s downtown area from Oct. 8 through Nov. 21.
The circus will be open for both matinee and evening shows in its “authentic one-ring circus tent,” the announcement stated.
The Zoppé Family Circus was founded 197 years ago in 1842 in Venice, Italy by Napoleone Zoppé. The circus became incredibly popular in Europe and was eventually inherited by Napoleone’s great-grandson, Alberto Zoppé. Alberto later moved to America to work with the Ringling Brothers Circus. His son, Giovanni, ended up reviving his family’s circus in the States 14 years ago, establishing its reputation as an “enchanting example of a traditional European circus,” according to Redwood City.
