Caltrain will not operate its annual Celebration Train that honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday due to the omicron surge.
The Celebration Train pays tribute to the 54-mile 1965 Selma to Montgomery March and traditionally drops passengers off at a march in San Francisco to honor the holiday. Caltrain said it hopes to hold the event again next year, “provided it can be done safely and responsibly.”
Caltrain advised community members to “instead participate in the virtual events organized by the Northern California Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Foundation.”
Caltrain will operate a modified schedule for the holiday on Monday while SamTrans will operate on its rgular, non-school day schedule.
