in A&E/Community

The Community Foundation of San Carlos is welcoming locals to the ribbon cutting ceremony of its “Love More” mural Sat., June 11 from 9-11 a.m. at 1379 Old County Rd. in San Carlos. San Carlos Mayor Sara McDowell will address the gathering at approximately 9:30 a.m.

The foundation referred to the 22’ x 95.5’ work as a “burst of springtime color” and described it on its website as an “environmental advocacy mural working to inspire and foster community appreciation and protection of San Carlos’ native species.”

The mural was created the day after Earth Day in partnership with Design Tech high school seniors, Annie Phillips and Lauren Wu—collectively known as Splash of Color—and Industrial Arts District building/business owner, Annie Baker. Community volunteers also pitched in on the painting during the April event.

“All are welcome to attend on Saturday and celebrate the environment and art in the burgeoning Industrial Arts District in San Carlos,” said the foundation in a statement.
