Caltrain and SamTrans have released the 411 on their respective schedules surrounding the Independence Day holiday.

On Mon., July 4, which is Independence Day, Caltrain will offer service, operating on a weekend schedule that will include two additional southbound trains leaving after the end of the City of San Francisco fireworks.

“Riders planning to attend the festivities in San Francisco can ride Caltrain to the San Francisco Station and either walk or connect to MUNI for service to and from the waterfront,” said Caltrain in a statement. The additional event trains will depart as they become full following the end of the fireworks show; the last train will leave San Francisco Station at 12:05 a.m.

Caltrain expects large crowds so is encouraging riders to avoid long lines at ticket vending machines by buying a Day Pass via the Caltrain mobile app or by using Clipper. Those using the mobile app are required to purchase their ticket on July 4 for it to be valid; tickets are not sold onboard train, however, they can be bought at the station ticket machines, per Caltrain.

Parking is available at Caltrain stations for $5.50/day, with permits being available for purchase via the Caltrain mobile app or onsite ticket machines. For more info call Customer Service at 1.800.660.4287 (TTY 650.508.6448) or visit www.caltrain.com.

As for SamTrans, it will be operating on a Sunday schedule for the Fourth of July, where holiday celebrations on the Peninsula can be reached via various SamTrans routes.
