Redwood City seeks help with one day homeless county on March 15

in Community

The City of Redwood City is inviting community members to help out during its one day count of unsheltered homeless people in the city.

City officials said the event “is an opportunity to make a difference in our community and help us better understand the needs of our unhoused neighbors.”

The count will take place from 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and will deploy from Fair Oaks Community Center. According to officials, “there are a total of 25 census tracks, with 5 of them having known encampments where our Homeless Outreach Providers will be conducting surveys in the morning and evening.”

Participants will be required to participate in a 1.5 hour training prior to the Homeless Count. They can choose to take that training on either March 9, 10, or 13. They will receive supplies and refreshments on the day of the count.

Those interested in participating can register using the link here.  For any one day count questions, reach out to Iyesha George, Homelessness Initiatives Management Fellow, at igeorge@redwoodcity.org.
