Amanda Brown-Stevens has been announced as the new CEO of the Greenbelt Alliance, the nonprofit that has been preserving open space and promoting smart growth in the Bay Area for over 60 years.
She will begin her role on April 29.
Brown-Stevens isn’t a new face to Greenbelt Alliance, having worked in many roles with the organization from 2006-2013. She is rejoining the nonprofit after working on the Resilient by Design | Bay Area Challenge, an international competition developing innovative, community-based solutions to sea level rise.
In a blog post on the Greenbelt Alliance website, Brown-Stevens was lauded by Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf for her “ability to unravel political challenges and forge a collaborative path for a better Bay Area.”
“Her talent of listening while leading has helped her craft a strong vision for a more sustainable and inclusive region—a region we’re all proud to call home,” Schaff said.
Sam Schuchat, executive officer of the California State Coastal Conservancy, was quoted in the blog as calling Brown-Stevens a “passionate conservationist” with a “forward-thinking approach to resilience.”
Want to meet her? Your first opportunity will be at Greenbelt Alliance’s Farms and Ranches Forever Fest on Thursday, May 16 in San Francisco.
