After being closed for nearly one year, except for a few weeks in the fall, the San Mateo County History Museum, Sanchez Adobe Historic Site and Woodside Store Historic Site are slated to reopen on Wednesday, March 24, according to the San Mateo County Historical Association (SMCHA)
The History Museum will be open Tuesday-Sunday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.; the Sanchez Adobe and Woodside Store will open Tuesday-Thursday from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m., which are reduced hours to allow for extra cleaning time. Occasional closures of the Sanchez Adobe may happen Wednesdays from 1-2 p.m. for a virtual school program.
Increased cleaning and mask requirements will be in place at all museums. The History Museum will have recommended paths of travel through the exhibits, with one family group allowed in Maverick’s, its smallest exhibit space. Hands-on interactives that are difficult to clean have been removed or are roped off. Visitors are encouraged to use a stylus on touchscreens.
A maximum of five people or one family group can visit inside the Sanchez Adobe or Woodside Store at a time.
History Museum visitors will be treated to “a new rotunda exhibit about women’s suffrage in San Mateo County that nobody has been able to enjoy due to the closure.”
