A Redwood City police officer received a commendation for outstanding police work following the recent arrest of three suspects accused of stealing a bike and brandishing a firearm.
Officer Ethan Silber responded to a 911 call in the 1100 block of King Street on Saturday, May 8, where the victim said he saw three suspects attempting to steal a bike from his home and confronted them a short distance away, police said. One of the suspects brandished a firearm, at which point the victim returned home to contact police.
“Officer Silber was one of the first ones on scene and ultimately located the suspects a short distance away and with the help of additional officers, took all three into custody without any injuries,” police said. “Officers on scene conducted a canvass of the area and located a loaded Glock 43 9mm handgun on the ground nearby. The quick actions and decision making by Officer Silber apprehended a dangerous suspect and took a gun off the streets.”
