San Mateo County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a suspect involved in an armed robbery at the Home Depot in San Carlos on Friday.
Deputies responded to the store at 1125 Old County Road about 7:48 p.m. and learned an employee had confronted a man who was leaving the store with $130 in unpaid merchandise, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect pulled a black handgun from his waistband, pointed it in the direction of the employee and threatened to shoot him if he attempted to take back the merchandise, the Sheriff’s Office said.
“The suspect ran across the parking lot, where he entered the front passenger seat of what was described as an older model, black in color, possibly late 90’s Chevrolet Tahoe with tinted windows,” the Sheriff’s Office said. “The suspect vehicle was last seen traveling southbound on Industrial Road from eastbound Brittan Avenue.”
The vehicle wasn’t located during a subsequent search of the area, deputies said.
“The suspect was described as a Black male, in his late 40s, wearing a gray baseball hat, blue and white plaid button up shirt, dark blue jeans and white shoes,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies obtained surveillance video from Home Depot and are actively investigating this incident.
