A Millbrae man was arrested for allegedly striking his 18-year-old son several times with a golf club, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident unfolded Friday, after the son withdrew a small amount of money from his bank account and went to a local coffee shop with a friend, the Sheriff’s Office said. His parents confronted him when he returned home for withdrawing money without their permission, which ultimately led to the golf club attack, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The teen, who suffered moderate injuries, did not report the incident until he went to school on Monday. The Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer started an investigation and subsequently arrested Richard Kim, 49, at his home on Tuesday on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Kim was later booked at the Maguire Correctional Facility.
