The Wheeler Plaza public parking garage at 675 Walnut St. in San Carlos is set to receive a paint job that aims to reflect more light into the garage in order to make it safer for public use.
Painting of the parking tire stops will provide additional safety and visibility for drivers and pedestrians, and anti-graffiti coating will also be applied to the walls and columns to reduce staff time to clean and remove graffiti, according to city staff.
At tonight’s meeting, City Council will be asked to approve specifications and call for bids on the project, which will include painting the walls and columns of the first and second floor of the garage. Engineer estimates peg the cost of the paint job at being from $100,000 to $150,000.
Bids for the project are tentatively set to open on Nov. 9, city staff said.
The Wheeler Plaza Parking garage opened in 2018. It features 100 first-floor spaces, 115 second-floor spaces and 25 short-term bike spaces.
