An 11-year-old boy was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of unlawfully causing a vegetation fire while using fireworks in Pacifica on Wednesday, according to the Pacifica Police Department.
Pacifica police and North County Fire Authority officials were dispatched to the 600 block of Roberts Road on a report of a vegetation fire just before 5 p.m. Fire personnel contained the fire to three acres and no evacuations were necessary. A portion of Roberts Road was closed for about two hours while fire personnel were on scene.
Officers arriving on scene were contacted by the boy, who told officers he was responsible for the fire.
“The child was placed under arrest for 452(D) PC Unlawfully Causing a Fire, a misdemeanor, and later released to a parent,” police said.
