A shoplifter lifted $1,775 worth of items from the CVS Pharmacy store in San Carlos on Sunday, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, which arrested the suspect as he was exiting the store parking lot.
Deputies responded to the store at about 9:18 p.m. on a report about the shoplifting incident at the store at 1324 San Carlos Ave. and learned the suspect, later identified as 22-year-old Oakland resident Jesus Moreno–Garcia, had left the store without paying for merchandise, the Sheriff’s Office said. Moreno–Garcia was detained near the store and positively identified by a witness.
“A search of Moreno–Garcia and his belongings revealed stolen store items valued at approximately $1,775.00, narcotics, and narcotics paraphernalia,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
After the stolen merchandise was returned to CVS, Moreno–Garcia booked into the San Mateo County Jail on charges including felony commercial burglary, and misdemeanor possession of methamphetamine and narcotics paraphernalia.
