When they’re not responding to emergency calls, San Mateo Consolidated Fire Department firefighters are having breakfast with Santa Claus and hanging out at the Hillsdale Shopping Center. Both activities, of course, aim to rake in donations in order to provide toys for community children in need this holiday season.
The public is invited to the Fire Department’s Breakfast with Santa event, which will take place from 9 a.m to 11 a.m. at the Downtown San Mateo Fire Dept. No. 21 at 120 S. Ellsworth St. on Saturday, Dec. 11. Attendees are asked to donate $10 or an unwrapped new gift. Photos will be offered with Santa on the 1921 fire engine.
Also, firefighters are staffing a Toy Booth at the Hillsdale Shopping Center now through Dec. 23, from noon to 8 p.m.
