Downed scaffolding prompts street closure in San Mateo

UPDATE (5:26PM):  S. El Camino Real has been reopened to through traffic, police said.

Scaffolding that fell onto the roadway from a building closed southbound S. El Camino Real from 3rd Avenue to 5th Avenue Monday morning, according to the San Mateo Police Department. The scaffolding appeared to have been servicing the building at 390 S El Camino Real at the corner of 4th Avenue.

“It is currently unknown how long it will take to clear,” the Police Department reported just after 11 a.m. “We will advise once the road has been reopened.”
