Victim robbed, sexually assaulted near Millbrae BART station

A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbing and sexually assaulting a female victim near the BART/Caltrain station in Millbrae early Wednesday.

At about 1:45 a.m., San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the report of the attack, which occurred in the 100 block of California Drive, the Sheriff’s Office said. Investigators learned the victim was held down by the man, who groped her and stole her cellphone and cash, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

“He also threatened to force her into prostitution before fleeing,” the Sheriff’s Office said.

A man matching the description of the suspect was reportedly located nearby and positively identified by the victim. He was also found in possession of the victim’s phone and cash. He was arrested on suspicion of robbery, sexual assault, false imprisonment and pandering a person for prostitution, all felony charges, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The suspect, who hasn’t been identified, was booked at the Maguire Correctional Facility, while the victim was provided with information for applicable services and assistance, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
