Bay Area Lebanese Americans celebrated their heritage in Redwood City’s Courthouse Square while raising funds to send back to their home country. A dozen years ago, the annual event began with140 locals. But on Saturday, August 27, several thousand arrived from all over the region for a day of Lebanese-centered entertainment, food and drink.

The crowd enjoyed dishes such as barbecued kafta kebab, tabbouleh, falafel and homemade sweets, along with Lebanese wines. Entertainment chair Abraham Sahyoun estimated his wife would serve 700 to 800 pounds of Kabuli salad by day’s end. It’s safe to say no one went home hungry.
