A manager at Hacienda Market in San Mateo is accused of sexually assaulting two employees and threatening to fire them and to reveal one of the employee’s immigration status if they reported the assaults, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office.
Fernando Martinezagustin, 43, of San Mateo, is facing multiple felony counts related to the allegations that reportedly span from Dec. 1 through March 13. During that period, Martinezagustin on “multiple occasions” brought one of the victims, both of whom he supervised, into his office and sexually groped and digitally penetrated them, according to prosecutors. He allegedly held them against their will and threatened them to keep the assaults secret.
The women, ages 29 and 37, finally reported the crimes to police. In a recorded call between Martinezagustin and a victim, he admitted to some of the offenses, prosecutors say.
Martinezagustin is set to appear for a preliminary hearing in his case. His bail was set at $700,000 and he remains in custody.
