CityTrees, a Redwood City tree planting, education and advocacy group, on November 19 joined with the city’s public works department to install 31 drought-tolerant trees in the Palm Park neighborhood in celebration of the community’s 40th annual recognition as “Tree City, U.S.A.” by the Arbor Day Foundation.
The foundation, a nonprofit conservation and education organization, confers the designation to towns that encourage the growth of the “urban forest” by planting and maintaining trees and supporting them through public policy.
Redwood City Vice Mayor Diana Reddy and District 4 council member Elmer Martínez Saballos attended the event, which also attracted 29 volunteers.
